“Good health is the most important thing you can have in your golden years.”
I couldn’t agree more. As you age, taking care of your body, inside and out, is imperative. Many spend their youth neglecting their bodies only to find themselves in a doctor’s office when they’re older.
Don’t be a guy that; spend some time learning about ways to keep yourself in good health now so that later on in life, you won’t regret missing out on all the fun stuff life has to offer just because you’re locked up in a hospital bed instead of having fun with friends and family.
As a man ages, the risk of heart disease rises. According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three American men over 45 has some form of cardiovascular disease.
Two-thirds of Americans age 60 and older have high blood- pressure, which increases heart attack risk by six times, more than any other condition. The average American man lives about 77 years, so the chances are that he’ll get at least one serious health diagnosis.
Here are just a few tips I’ve found to be helpful when it comes to good health for men over 60:
The following tips will help you keep your body healthy as you enter middle age:
- Exercise regularly
- Eat a low-sodium diet
- Keep cholesterol levels under control
- Quit smoking or drinking alcohol excessively
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Reduce stress using activities such as yoga or meditation
- Get plenty of sleep
- Eat a variety of healthy, natural foods
- Drink lots of water
- Protect yourself from the sun and avoid tanning beds
